Minutes of the March 4th meeting were approved as recorded.

OLD BUSINESS

Mr. Higbee gave the following report,

  1. The roof at the Newport station has some damage to it and is in need of repairs. Jim Rhubart, a local contractor from Fortescue will make the necessary repairs at no cost to the fire company as a donation. When completed a work crew will paint. No time was given as to when this will be done.
  2. The roof at the Newport station also needs to be recoated. Cliff, Steve Burt, and Paul May have looked at the roof and it is in good condition. Some time in May a work crew will attempt to complete this.

Clerks report old business,

The books have been delivered to Ray Colavitas office for the 2018 audit. Mike has been in contact with Zack and will report next month on the final audit.

NEW BUSINESS

Mr. Higbee gave the following report,

  1. T-39 had a problem that need immediate attition. It was taken out of service and Newport Service Center diagnosed the problem. The parts were ordered and repaired. T- 39 is back in service at this time. No invoice at this time.
  2. Halo Service Co. will be here in the next month to service any trucks that need the yearly service performed.
  3. Contracted services to fire company was paid in the amount of $17,000.00.

Clerks report new business,

The workman’s comp insurance is due this month. Speaking with Gus Gosweiler from the insurance office we are eligible to exit the Technology risk pool that we have been in the past few years. This can result in a savings of funds. The amount is unknown at this time. At this time the board has advised the clerk not to pay the yearly premium and keep the commissioners advised of any new information.

As of April 1, 2019, the Township of Downe has entered an agreement with the City of Bridgeton for fire inspections. All building inspections and fire inspections will now be handled by the City of Bridgeton.
