Minutes of the August 3 meeting were approved as recorded.
Motion to pay bills
OLD BUSINESS
Mr. Robertson gave the following report,
- The security cameras are in service at both the Newport and Fortescue stations.
- The new doors and locks are in and will be installed this month.
- Currently working on information on company to perform background checks on personal.
- 39-23 has 4 new tires.
- New batteries were installed on Storm-39. In the near future it will be housed at the Fortescue station.
- The SCUBA bottles that were sent to be serviced by Racite fire service have been returned. Two bottles were put out of service.
- After review of the workman’s comp policy it has been noted that an increase of $14,00.00 has been applied. This is due to a discrepancy of members that the audit picked up. Mr. Robertson will review and smit a corrected member list to the insurance company.
- Updated beneficiary forms will be distributed to members at tonight’s company meeting.
- The pig pen at the Newport station has been cleaned and organized. New racks were built for storage. It was asked if old OOS hose can be donated to the Fortescue State Marina. This was approved.
- It was asked if we can open a government assisted sale account known as GovDeals. This will be done to sell off some outdated equipment both now and in the future.
- The new radio has been installed in R-39.
- A new light bar will be ordered for 39-21. This will help with the radio interference.
NEW BUSINESS
Mr. Robertson and Mr. Rothman presented to the commissioners PAFRS. This company will help recover funds on selected and pre-approved jobs. It was presented some time ago a chiefs meeting. PAFRS is set up to bill and recover funds that are paid out by insurance companies. This will have to be conducted thru Downe Township Fire & Rescue not the board of commissioner. It was then asked that the board to allow the company to conduct business with PAFRS. A vote of 5-0 in favor to allow the fire company to conduct business with PAFRS.
