THE COMMISSIONERS OF FIRE DISTRICT NO 1

December 7, 2020

Meeting called to order by Chairman Pharo at 6:00pm.

 

Roll Call, Chairman Pharo, Vice Chairman Lupton, Secretary Higbee, Treasurer Robertson, Commissioner Cowley, Clerk Rothman.

 

Public on hand 5.

 

Minutes of the November 2, meeting was approved as recorded.

 

Motion to pay bills, Lupton, Higbee.

 

OLD BUSINESS

Mr. Robertson gave the following report,

  1. Work on fire company apparatus is continuing. Tender 39 is back in service and in working order at this time. The service to the engine, transmission, and right-side dump is all complete.
  2. The paperwork for the workman’s comp insurance is now complete and waiting for a response from the insurance company.

Mr. Rothman gave the following report,

  1. The door at the Fortescue station is still not completed. Millville Glass and Door will be down to install another Simplex lock on the front door. All other doors are completed.
  2. We are waiting on a call from Foley Cat so they can perform service to the generator at the Fortescue Station. We will also set up a yearly maintenance program for this unit.

NEW BUSINESS

Mr. Robertson gave the following report,

  1. Storm 39 had some battery problems again. Newport Service will check and repair.
  2. The status of our air packs and bottles were given. The current air packs can stay in service as long as the meet the code of the time of manufacture. For the majority of them they are still in code. The bulk of the bottles have exceeded the life span of usefulness at 15 years. 6 new bottles will be purchased at this time @ $1,200.00 each. We will purchase another 6 in the beginning of 2021. All packs will continue to be serviced and checked each year.
  3. A new set of turn out gear needs to be purchased along with a few name plates.

Mr. Rothman reported that he will be working with Company past Chief Frank Green om a new USDA grant. This will be for a new marine unit.

Miss. Cowley reported that the GREEN Team dates and projects for the year 2021. As in the past year Miss. Cowley will be asking for some assistance from the Fire/Rescue company with different events.

Chairman Pharo reminded all that a special meeting will be held on Monday the 21st at 6:00pm for the 2021 budget. This will be the public meeting and adaption of the budget.
