Meeting called to order by Chairman Pharo at 6:00pm.
Roll call – Chairman Pharo, Vice Chairman Lupton, Treasurer Robertson, Secretary Higbee, Commissioner Cowley, Clerk Rothman.
Public on hand 7.
Minutes of the November 7 meeting were approved as recorded, Lupton, Cowley.
Motion to pay bills.
OLD BUSINESS
Mr. Robertson gave the following report,
- The standpipe at the N side of 553 in Newport still is being repaired.
- The middle door at the Newport station is still in the process of being repaired. Asst. Chief McPherson the parts are on order and will report back. All hose, ladder, and pump test have been completed at this time by Mistras Inc. There were 6 sections of hose ranging from 1 ¾ to 5” that failed testing. Mr. Robertson will order new hose and report back.
- Annual preventive maintenance has been completed on all vehicles at this time by EVS.
- Annual maintenance on Hurst tools have been completed at this time by MES.
- The truck committee has met with Pierce and E One. Some preliminary concepts were distributed to the committee and another meeting is scheduled. Report to follow.
Miss Cowley reported that Downe Home day at the Newport station helped raise approximately $6,000.00 for the 8th grade class.
Mr. Rothman gave the following report,
- Systems Electric gave a proposal of $1,136.00 to install lighting on the Bravo side of the Newport station. All approved.
NEW BUSINESS
Mr. Robertson gave the following report,
- The heater at the Newport station has a small drip. Woodruff Oil will be out to repair.
- The well has been repaired by Rosley Well and is back in service at this time.
Mr. Robertson and Mr. Higbee reported that the portable pumps have new carburetors and fuel lines. Both have been drained of fuel and replace with Tru Fuel at this time. The portable generator and large portable pump will be serviced next.
Miss Cowley reported that on January 7th the Green Team with the help of the fire company will host a polar bear plunge at the S end of the Fortescue beach at 2:00pm. After this a chili cook off will take place at the Fortescue Fire Hall.
TREASURERS REPORT
Checking Account - $271,344.91
Resolution # 22-11 Authorizing Placement of Capital Issue on Annual Election Ballot.
Chairman Pharo opened the meeting for the proposed 2023 budget. The proposed budget will be in the amount of $ 230,261.13. Each commissioner revied the proposed budget and was asked if they had any questions or would like to make any changes at this time. With none Chairman Pharo opened the public comment portion and asked if anyone in the public has any questions at this time. With none Chairman Pharo closed the public comment portion and asked for a roll call vote.
Lupton (Y), Roberson (Y), Higbee (Y), Cowley (Y), Pharo (Y). with a 5-0 vote in favor to approve the proposed 2023 budget. Clerk Rothman will have the proposed 2023 budget uploaded to the state FAST system and notify Mr. Calavitos office.
