THE BOARD OF FIRE COMMISSIONERS FIRE DISTRICT NO 1

IN THE TOWNSHIP OF DOWNE

 COUNTY OF CUMBERLAND

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

APRIL 2022

April 4, 2022

Meeting called to order by Chairman Pharo at 6:00.

Roll call, Chairman Pharo, Vice Chairman Lupton, Treasurer Robertson, Secretary Higbee, Commissioner Cowley, Clerk Rothman.

Minutes of the March 7 meeting were approved as recorded, Higbee, Robertson.

Motion to pay bills, Pharo, Cowley.

OLD BUSINESS

Mr. Robertson reported that Mr. Braslow is still reviewing the proposal from Bayshore Wireless for the placement of the tower at the Fortescue Station. Questions that still need further discussion are;

  1. Price of property lease.
  2. Price of tower.
  3. Do we need to sub-divide the property?

Mr. Rothman reported that the insurance change over is on track for the changeover on April 18.

 

NEW BUSINESS

Mr. Robertson gave the following report;

  1. BTM Construction was at the Newport Station to grade the driveway.
  2. A truck committee is needed to review and explore the purchase of a big rescue truck. Mr. Higbee made a motion and Mr. Lupton 2ed the motion. A vote of 5-0 in favor of this to proceed.

Mr. Higbee gave the following report;

  1. The South Jersey Gas project is progressing thru Fortescue at this time. At this time, it would not be cost effective to convert either the Newport or Fortescue station over to gas due to the age of the heating system.
  2. Higbee asked that the following organizations be allowed to have use of the Fortescue station for meetings or events, Fortescue Anglers, Green Team, Fortescue Captains Association.

Miss Cowley reported that the 2022 Horseshoe Crab Festival will behold on May 14th. The request was made for use of the Fortescue Hall on May 12,13, and 14th. With no objections it was placed on the calendar.

22-06 – Appointment of Auditor

22-07 – Designation of official news paper

22-08 – Authorizing the 2022 regular meeting dates
